The Rx.com Mod Team has created this Service Play sub-forum in order to supply an area for Rx Service Play Posters to expand upon their posting topics without creating a logjam in the main forum where the three principle threads are maintained..

Posters can track services here if they care to but we will need any trackers to do so in an accurate and civil manner. We did not create this area for posters to ridicule or bash any services..

You can also discuss who is hot and who is not. The general state of the pay for plays industry and any other subject or topic related to service plays.

You can also create individual threads about specific services and discuss them freely but civilly. Again bashing and abusive treatment of any services will not be tolerated.

Please remember, this forum is not here for regular posters who cap their own games to post ther daily plays. Please use our individual sport forums to post your plays. Professional cappers (those that sell plays) must remain in the Site Promotion Forum.

The Rx.com will not tolerate posters that post false records of any services they track. Please be truthful if you decide to track a particular service.

Lastly The Rx Moderators are appealing to you our everyday posters to report any promotional threads or posts that are made by services or individual touts. No links or contact information to an individual service will be allowed. Just the name of the service. Please report any threads or posts that are promotional attempts by services and touts to use this forum to promote themselves..

Posters can easily report a promotional post by using the triangular Report-a-Post Icon at the bottom left of all post boxes. The poster name of any poster who reports a post that is out of line will be kept strictly confidential.

I will leave this thread open for a month to take questions and do my best to answer them. I will check in daily but am off on Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope this additional Service Play Forum will satisfy those posters that would like to widen the scope of topics relating to service plays and the industry in general to have their own threads. Mods will be liberal as possible regarding topics but this forum was specifically created to allow you more freedom to express your ideas regarding service plays and related subject matter. No off topic threads will be allowed.

Thank you, wilheim

NCAA NorthCoast News And Notes-Week 6

Texas A&M had a commanding 222-63 yd edge at the half vs Okla St but Jerrod Johnson, who had 4 int and a costly fmbl kept the Cowboys in the game. It was 21-7 A&M at the half but OSU rallied for a 21-21 tie. A&M was SOD at the OSU33 and then int'd. OSU went 48/5pl for a TD and the lead. A&M went on a 43/9pl drive but Johnson was sk'd & fmbl'd and ret'd 63 yds for a TD, basically a 14 pt swing, 35-21. A&M put together a pair of 80 yd TD drives to tie it with 2:54 left then forced a punt with 1:16 left. The Aggies were at their own 46 when Johnson was int'd and ret'd 28 yds to the Aggie40 with :16 left. On the final play OSU got a FG for the win...

BYU fell to 1-4 for the first time since 1973 and Utah St, who had lost 10 straight to BYU, won for the first time since 1993. BYU trailed 31-10 when they scored a TD with :28 left...

Ohio St did struggle vs Illinois early with UI getting a 55/9pl TD drive for a stunning 7-0 lead and the Illini led 10-7 before the half and the Buckeyes drove for 57 yds for a TD with :45 left for the lead. The key play happened on OSU's first poss of the 3Q. Terrelle Pryor ran for a FD but was inj'd and would not only miss 2' series, but when he returned, they basically handed the ball off to the RB almost every offensive play after that and OSU only managed an 11 pt win, 24-13...

Florida St was possibly even more dominant than the score would indicate vs Virginia in their 34-14 win. They led 27-0 at half with a 292-42 yd edge and UVA's only TD's came on a 76/1pl TD pass early 3Q and then trailing 34-7 they drove 70/14pl and on 4&gl from the 12 got a TD with 1:39 left...

Vanderbilt/Connecticut was closer than the final as UC only had a 376-326 yd edge. VU led 21-14 with 5:26 left 1H when UC drove for a TD with 1:04 left. UC got a TD on their opening 3Q drive then after a roughing the P gave them a FD, they got a 25 yd FG to lead 31-21. VU was int'd at the UC20 but UC fmbl'd at the VU7. With 8:33 left UC got a 44 yd IR TD to clinch it...

TCU continues to win unimpressively. This time vs Colorado St they only had a 6-0 lead at the half with a 164-51 yd edge. TCU scored TD's on 2 of their first three 3Q poss and led 27-0. CSU fmbl'd at the TCU25 with 3:55 left and TCU had a shot at the cover but took a knee at the 13 on the final play...

Kent St led Miami, OH 14-3 in the 1Q and gave up a TD with 2:31 left 1H to only lead 14-10. KSU was int at the MU31 late 3Q and MU drove 69 yds for a TD and their first lead, 17-14. MU then blk'd a punt for a TD, 24-14. After a KSU TD, MU went on a 14pl drive getting a 21 yd FG with 3:32 left. KSU drove and had a 1&gl. On 2&gl from the 7 QB Keith was int'd in the EZ for a TB with :56 left...

Army actually led Temple 28-13 at the start of the 3Q and TU was playing without star RB Pierce. Matt Brown rushed for 226 yds on 28 carries and TU scored TD's on their first four 2H poss to turn it around and take a 42-28 lead before Army scored with 1:18 left. TU rec'd the onside kick and got a 4&3, 5 yd run to the Army31 on the last play...

The key to the Tulane/Rutgers game was probably RU QB Savage being inj'd and missing the final series of the 2Q and the entire 2H. RU cut it to 17-14 after 3Q's and after punting 2x on 4th & 6 they were SOD at the TU36 with 1:38 left. The Knights got it back after an 18 yd TU punt but were int'd...

The last few years Air Force had outgained Navy almost every season but came up short but this year they finally ended their jinx. This time Navy had a 17-13 FD edge. AF benefitted from a couple of key plays as Navy went inside their 20 3x but missed a FG and settled for 2 short FG's. AF also blk'd a punt and drove 15 yds for a TD after to lead 14-6. Navy's last drive got to the AF33 but they were int'd at the 22 and ret'd 10 yds with :25 left...

It was a record breaking game for Baylor. Robert Griffin set a single game record with 444 totals yds and BU set a school record with 678 yds offense. BU got their largest B12 win ever and their biggest conf win since back in 1922 when they won by 47 over Arkansas as BU hammered Kansas 55-7...

Miami, FL had a 280-169 yd edge at the half vs Clemson and led 27-14. CU turned the ball over six times but UM also turned it over 2x. The key happened with CU down by 6 when they were SOD at the UM20 and the Hurricanes drove 69/10pl for a 29 yd FG with 2:40 left. Two of CU's TO's came on their final two drives...

Minnesota lost their first 4 HG's of the season for the first time since 1983. Northwestern trailed almost the entire 2H as they got the apparent tying TD at 21-20 but missed the xp. Trailing 28-20 they got a TD with 8:12 left, forced a punt and got the go-ahead 27 yd FG with 1:58 left. UM, needing only a FG for the win, got to the NW39 but on 3&11 were int at the 40 and ret'd 9 yds with :17 left...

LSU had a yard edge of 432-217. Last year they were outgained by an avg of 328-305 but ended up winning 9 games. Against a Tennessee team, with a young O-line and QB making their first road start, LSU trailed 14-10 when they stopped the Vols at the LSU31 with 5:41 left. The Tigers drove to the UT1 with :04 left but the snap went past QB Jefferson and UT rec'd for the win and celebrated on the field. Unfortunately they had 13 men on the field and LSU got another crack at it after it appeared they had lost. They converted on the last play of the game for a 1 yd TD run and pulled out the 16-14 win. LSU also converted on 4&14 on their final drive with no time-outs left and sent 3 subs on the field as the clock continued to click down and it looked like Miles would have another time clock malfunction. Dooley pointed out that with LSU running 3 players on the field the rules state the D has to be given enough time to make a substitution and the refs should have held the play up until UT's D was set but that protocol was not followed...

Pitt's Ray Graham ran for 277 yds in his first college start and Dion Lewis did not play (shoulder inj). The Pitt/FIU game was just 13-10 at the half and 16-10 after 3Q's. It was 23-17 Pitt with 12:07 left when they got some big plays. After Pitt converted on 3&13 with a 15 yd pass, Graham got a 79 yd TD run. After an FIU punt, Pitt went 45/6pl with a 19 yd TD run then FIU was sk'd & fmbl'd at their own 16 (4:22) and Pitt got a 4 yd TD run with 1:32 left for a 42-17 score and it was not as comfortable as the final...

UCLA faced Washington St without starting QB Prince. Richard Brehaut hit 12-23-128 yds but Johnathan Franklin rushed for 216 and Derrick Coleman for 185 as UCLA continued their strong run game. The key play of the game happened in the 4Q. WSU thought they had taken the lead, 35-28 when a 2&1 QB sneak was orig called a TD. After a review, they spotted it at the inch line. Two plays later on 4th & gl from the 1 WSU was SOD with 13:51 left. UCLA went 99/7pl with a 73 yd run by Coleman on 3&2 the key. After an 11pl drive, WSU missed a 45 yd FG and UCLA went 72/8pl for a TD with 3:04 left for some breathing room. WSU fmbl'd at the UCLA38 with :58 left...

Michigan St held Wisconsin RBJohn Clay to 17 carries for 80 yds breaking his streak of 10 straight games of 100+. They also held Scott Tolzien to just 11-25 passing while Kirk Cousins was 20-29. MSU had a 230-118 yd edge at the half and led 20-10. At the end of the game, they faced a tough decision. They had a 4&gl at the 1, up 27-24. A FG would put them more than a FG ahead but they opted to go for it and got a 1 yd TD pass with 2:43 left for a 10 pt lead. Wisconsin would end up being SOD on 4&17 at the MSU32 with 1:04 left...

Michigan QB Denard Robinson had 19 carries for 217 yards incl a game winning 4 yd TD run with :17 left. Robinson also hit 10-16-277 yds. Robinson is the first QB to throw for 200 and rush for 200 twice in season. He now has the top 3 highest total offensive yards in a single game in school history and in 5 starts already has 1,008 pass yds and 905 rush yds in five games Indiana had its first sellout crowd since Memorial Stadium was renovated. Indiana's Ben Chappell hit 33-64-480 yds - all school records. The game could have been even higher scoring than the 42-35 final. ...

Oklahoma has led each of their games this season by 17 pts and had been outscored in the 4Q, 41-10 coming into the Red River Rivalry. They were outscored again. OU led 21-7 at the half and appeared to clinch it with a TD making it 28-10. Texas used a fake punt which set up a FG and then stuffed Oklahoma on a fake FG for an 8 yd loss. Texas also took advantage of a 17 yd punt with 2:37 left for a 21 yd FG to pull within 28-20. Texas kicked off deep as they had all 3 time-outs left and forced a punt with 1:02 left but fmbl'd the punt and OU rec'd at the UT41 for their 8 pt win. UT did have a 26-15 FD edge...

Rice actually had a 24-17 FD edge vs SMU but gave up a 32 yd IR TD in the 1Q and trailed 7-0. It was 7-3 late 1H when SMU took over with 1:04 left but they needed 3 plays to go 80 yds for a TD and led 14-3. Rice missed a 58 yd FG on the final play of the half. Rice rec'd a fmbl'd punt in the EZ for a TD to pull within 14-10. Each team went on a long drive but SMU got a TD and Rice had a 1st & gl at the 3 but settled for a 35 yd FG. SMU not only blk'd it but ret'd it 77 yds for a TD to make it 28-10. SMU would extend it to 42-17 after an int but Rice got a TD with 5:04 left, rec'd the onside kick and got a TD with 1:40 left...

Last week NCSt was ranked for the first time since 2003 and they appeared on their way to a big win over Virg Tech leading 17-0. At the half they had a 299-187 yd edge but Russell Wilson had some costly int's. He was int at the VT18 with 8:17 left 2Q. On 4&9 they dropped a TD pass from the VT31 and then on 3&10 from the VT16 Wilson was int'd in the EZ again with :48 left 1H. NCSt, trailing 28-27, had a 14 yd gain to the VT 9 yd line but it was called back on a hold. On 4th &11 they settled for a 42 yd FG with 4:42 left, 30-28. VT got a 39 yd TD pass with just 1:27 left then a 46 yd IR got them to the NCSt6 and Evans got a 3 yd TD run after an offsides pen for a misleading 41-30 final in a game VT trailed with 1:40 left...

Alabama did have a 268-96 yd edge at the half but Florida finished the game with a 281-273 yd edge but also had a 4-0 TO deficit. Each team went on a long drive to open. Bama got a 28 yd FG and UF on 4&gl from the 2 was int'd in the EZ on a jump pass. It was 24-3 at the half but UF opened the 3Q with a 69/10pl drive. They had a 1st & gl at the 5 but settled for a 21 yd FG. The Gators were cooked when they had the ball back down at the 18 and were int'd and ret'd 32 yds for a TD with 6:10 left in the 3Q. UF went 72/9pl and had a 1st & gl at the 2 but fmbl'd. On their next drive, they were SOD at the Bama13 and Bama took over with 4:22 left and gained 37 yds and got 3 FD's running out the clock...

USF played without leading rusher Demetris Murray but Moise Plancher rushed for 93 yds and 2 TD's...

New Mexico's 3 scoring "drives" vs UTEP were a 27/4pl drive following a UTEP fmbl, a blk'd FG which they ret'd 45 yds for a TD and then after UTEP scored a TD with 3:37 left in the game, Myles Daughtry ret'd the ensuing KO 100 yds for a TD. That's how they accounted for 20 pts in a 38-20 loss. UTEP had a 455-237 yd edge...

Southern Miss dominated Marshall as the score would indicate. They had a 269-46 yd edge at the half with Marshall punting on their first 7 poss and it was 28-0. MU did get a 104 yd KR TD and trailing 34-7 a snap went over SM's P head for a safety. Marshall benched starting QB Anderson and AJ Graham hit 10-12-98 yds in the 2H.

Duke went on three long drives but settled for 3 short FG's and led 9-0. They were at the Maryland 16 when they were int'd in the EZ for a TB with 4:37 left in the half in a game they had dominated. Maryland then went 80/8pl for a TD with 1:12 left 1H to only trail 9-7. The Terps got an 84 yd PR TD early 3Q and then on 3&7 got a 71 yd TD run by Scott early 4Q, 21-9. Duke got a TD with 7:20 let and got the ball back driving to the Maryland 33 but were SOD on 4&15 with 2:00 left. For the game, Duke had a 399-294 yd edge...

Buffalo flat out dominated Bowling Green statistically with 27-10 FD and 441-176 yd edges while Buffalo had 6 TO's and BG 5. UB left BG in the game because they fumbled at the 2 and were int'd setting up BG for a 5 yd "drive" in the 1Q. UB missed a 35 yd FG and only led 14-13 at the half. They led 28-13 when they were int'd in the EZ. UB had the ball at the BG21 on FD leading by 15 when they were int'd and ret'd 82 yds for a TD with 10:14 left. BUF got off an 11 yd punt and BG went 37/4pl for a TD with 7:12 left. BG faced a 4&18 from the 50 and was int'd at the UB21 with 1:35 left but UB fmbl'd 2pl later and BG attempted a game winning 40 yd FG on the final play and missed it...

A check of the FD's shows C Michigan with 21-14 FD edge vs Ball St but BSt controlled the game. At one point BSt had a 422-246 yd edge and led 31-11 before CM gained 125 yds on their final 2 drives. BSt led 14-3 at half and 28-3 after 3Q's and rushed for 306 yards...

Tulsa had a 26-12 FD edge vs Memphis, 233 yds rushing and 214 passing while Memphis had 207 total yards. TU led 20-7 at half but scored TD's on their first 3 poss of the 2H to break it open 41-7 and added a TD with 2:57 left for the 48-7 final...

North Texas had 21-13 FD 371-358 yd edges. There were 2 crucial plays in the game. NT trailing 7-0 had a 3&1 at the UL32 when they fmbl'd and it was ret'd for a TD by UL and NT trailed 14-0. It was 21-14 at the half. Trailing 28-14, NT went 72/11pl for a TD with 8:53 left then forced a punt with 4:54 left. NT drove 91/12pl and got the apparent tying TD with :31 left but UL blk'd the xp and rec'd the onside kick and won by 1...

Georgia's AJ Green ret'd from his 4 game suspension and had a big game with 7 rec for 117 yds incl 2 TD's, with one of them being spectacular. Unfortunately the altitude and lack of PT had him cramping up in the 2H and after hauling in a 50 yd rec on the 3rd snap of the 2H he did not catch another pass. Georgia settled for a 33 and 20 yd FG's in the game and missed a 41 yd FG. Colorado settled for a 38 yd FG but roughing the K late 3Q gave them a FD and on the next play they got a 10 yd TD run for a 29-24 lead. CU missed a 52 yd FG with 3:37 left and UGA appeared on their way to a win. They had a FD at the CU27 with 1:56 left and CU used a time-out. CU LB Beatty blitzed and stripped RB King of the ball and CU rec'd it at the 30, got 1 FD & took a knee.

5* Florida St over MIAMI FLA by 7
When these two bitter rivals meet, it goes without saying that you can throw out the records. In fact, you can throw out the line... and you should. The dog has won this game OUTRIGHT a remarkable seven of the last eight seasons, including each of the last five. That does not bode well for Hurricanes’ HC Randy Shannon, who already is the answer to week’s TRIVIA TEASER. Not only does Shannon take his lumps in ACC affairs, his ‘Canes are un-Kosar-like 5-7 SU and 3-9 ATS as home favorites of less than 10 points and just 2-6 ATS at home off back-to-back road games. Even their 1-6 ATS mark in Game Six – along with Jacory Harris’ penchant for the INT (word has it Harris’ shoulder is not right) – is cause for concern against a Seminoles’ defense that has really stepped in up since the lambasting at Oklahoma. In their last three contests, FSU has held BYU, Wake Forest and Virginia to a combined 24 points and all three to season-low yardage. Ol’ Bobby and Mickey may have been chuckling a month ago but it’s now Jimbo and company that are getting the last laugh. The names may have changed in this series (even the Stadium is now called Sun Life), but we’ll look for the dog to continue its winning ways. With the Orange Bowl mystique no longer a factor, ‘wide right’ appears to be one part of series history that will not repeat itself. ‘Ponder’ that as we grab the generous points!

4* KENTUCKY over Auburn by 3
On our late phones last week, Michigan State delivered as our False Favorite Game of the Month. If we weren’t still in October, Kentucky would be under heavy consideration for that title. Forget that Tigers’ HC Gene Chizik is a pathetic 2-14 SU away with those wins coming by three and four points, respectively. If you’d like, you can also let it slip your mind that The Chiz has a pair of revengers with Arkansas and LSU on deck. And while you’re at it, don’t even note that Aubbie is just 1-5 ATS off back-to-back home games or 2-7 ATS as conference road favorites off back-to-back SU and ATS wins. All of that is small potatoes compared to the fact that the Tigers have the worst of it in this week’s SMART BOX. That alone should have you sniffing the blue grass... and we haven’t yet brought Kentucky into the picture. For starters, our database informs us that the Wildcats are a perfect 6-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in the first of three or more consecutive home games. As if that’s not enough, our Midweek Alert points out that Kentucky has held three foes to season-low yards this season, including Ole Miss in last week’s 123-yard ‘inside-out’ stat win but SU loss. Let’s also not forget that the ‘Cats limited Akron to 172 total yards – the Zips’ 2nd lowest output of the season. Get the picture? Repeat after us: FALSE FAVORITE.

3* SOUTHERN MISS over East Carolina by 20
At last, a game with some meat on its bones... and compared to the prior procession of fence-sitting stalemates we’ve had to endure, this baby looks like a bacon-wrapped filet. Larry Fedora appears to have something special brewing down in Hattiesburg. After a sobering 31- 13 season-opening loss at South Carolina, the Golden Eagles have reeled off four straight wins, outscoring foes by a total of 119-51. Fedora has also instilled in USM the importance of defending the home field. Since going 1-3 SU in his initial four games as head coach, Larry The Hat has won 11 games in a row at Roberts Stadium while compiling a sweet 7-2 ATS mark. Last week the Eagles soared past Marshall in their conference opener, 41-16. Southern Miss nearly doubled the Herd’s offensive output, 369-170, and held Marshall to 45 rushing yards in the game (just 2 YPC). Now Fedora’s squadron guns for league win No. 2 against a foe they’ve completely dominated, going 8-1 ATS the last nine in the series, including 3-1 ATS at home. Fedora also stands 8-3 ATS off a SU and ATS win, including 4-1 ATS versus a foe off a loss. The Eagles have certainly flashed their claws on defense, holding their last four opponents to season-low - or second low - yards. There’s far more buckle than swash when it comes to the Pirates ‘D’: they’ve allowed season-high yardage to ALL four foes this year. Can’t ignore the fact that the Ruffin McNeill’s Bucs are 0-6 ATS in the second of back-to-back road games or that they have a major revenger with hated NC State on deck. The ‘R’ word also comes into play in our favor as the Eagles will be looking to avenge last year’s season-ending 25-20 loss at ECU. The reality is with Houston QB Case Keenum lost for 2010, the Eagles have the C-USA title fixed firmly in sight. They won’t blow it here.

UPSET GAME OF THE WEEK

S CAROLINA over Alabama by 3
Simmer down. Yes, we saw last week’s game against Florida and we know the Tide looked like it could probably have handled the Arizona Cardinals or Oakland Raiders. But that was last week – and even though the Gators may have been a tad overrated, we think the Gamecocks might still have a little radar-dodging to do. We’ve shared Steve Spurrier’s outstanding success rate in conference games but he really excels taking on a foe off a SU and ATS win, going 38-16-1 ATS (if the line drops to -5 or less, this tightens to an incredible 17-4-1 ATS). If that doesn’t get your rooster to crowin’ then how about South Carolina’s 7-1 ATS mark as a home dog? The Cocks had a week off to, err, lick their wounds following a 35-27 loss at Auburn and will be well- rested and mentally prepared for today’s fight. If you’re still feeling antsy after we tell you Bama is only 1-4 ATS in Game Sixes or just 2-5 ATS after Gator-wrestling, our database informs us that teams who defeat an Urban Meyer-coached team are only 8-8 SU and 4-11-1 ATS in their next regular season game, including 1-9 ATS the last ten. The Tide is also up against it another way. This is the first of seven season- ending games – all against foes that will each have an extra week of rest to prepare for the defending national champs. That’s not good news considering Saban’s paltry 2-9 SU and 3-7-1 ATS college career mark against .500 or greater rested opponents that allow less than 19 PPG on the season (where else would you find a stat like that other than in the PLAYBOOK!). We think South Carolina’s stud RB Marcus Lattimore can keep his team close enough to allow the wily Spurrier to engineer the year’s biggest upset. And down goes Bama!

RED SHEET

San Diego State 34 - BYU 14
Line opened at SanDiegoSt minus 31⁄2, and is now minus 51⁄2. A week ago, we had figured the Coogs to do a job on UtahSt, after suffering through a 3-game losing skein vs the likes of AirForce, FloridaSt, & Nevada. But the lacking Ags simply extended BYU's miseries, with a 31-16 rout, including a 242-65 overland edge. So, 4 straight Coog losses for 1st time since 1973. Now must face resurgent Aztecs, who rank #7 in total offense, who are rested, & who ran up a 504- 245 yd edge over UtahSt (yep, those Ags), in their last game (41-7 romper). QB Lindley: 3 TDs LW. RATING: SAN DIEGO STATE 89

BOISE STATE 58 - Toledo 10
Line opened at BoiseSt minus 381⁄2, and is now minus 39. We have taken a back seat to no one, in profiting from the exploits of these Broncos, who just continue to roll up eye- popping performances. Perfect example last week, with Boise leading: 24-0 after one, 38-0 after two, 52-0 after three, & a 59-0 final. Obviously, could have hit stratospheric pt total, had they so chosen. Moore (50 TDs, 4 INTs since LY) & Co are firmly ensconced in #4 spot in the polls, & aren't about to do anything to upset that lofty feeling. UT owns decent rushing "D", but too many Bronco weapons. RATING: BOISE STATE 89

Florida State 31 - MIAMI-FLORIDA 30
Line opened at Miami minus 7, and is now minus 6. This brutal rivalry has gone down to the wire just about every season, with the last 9 between 'em being decided by a TD or less SU. And that's to say nothing of their glory year wars, which always seemed to be settled by a FG. This season figures to be more of the same, as both are again among the elites. The 'Noles have turned it on, following their rout loss at Oklahoma, with a 177 RYpg edge in their last 3, while the 'Canes have 9 takeaways in their last 2 games. Harris INT penchant (8 TY) could spell disaster here. RATING: FLORIDA STATE 88

NORTH CAROLINA STATE 33 - Boston College 13
Line opened at NoCaroSt minus 9, and is now minus 91⁄2. Admittedly, we are normally leery of bucking the Eagles, as dogs. But they are on an entirely foreign run of ineptitude. Just a single TD the last 2 weeks, & that on a 58-yd pass. And how about being held under 20 pts in 6 of their last 7 games? Now down to 3rd-string QBing, & ranking 108th in overland production. And to top it off, they take to the road for the very first time here, following convincing losses (19-0, 31-13) to VaTech & NoDame (easiest Irish win in 17 tilts). Wilson leads avenging & potent 'Pack. RATING: NORTH CAROLINA STATE 88

GOLD SHEET EXTRA

TECHNICAL PLAYS OF THE WEEK

COLLEGE

TENNESSEE
We’ve seen enough of Georgia’s shortcomings to not be afraid to buck the Bulldogs “between the hedges” in Athens, where the Dawgs are 2-10 vs. the line their last 12 on the board vs. FBS foes. And Georgia is reeling, having dropped its last four vs. the number this season. A much better case can be made for Tennessee, which has covered the last four meetings in this series. UT is also a featured Power Underdog play this week in Athens.

OREGON STATE
We’re beyond September and into the “Beaver month” of October, where Oregon State has won 12 of its last 15 games. And the Beavers have long fared well on the road vs. Arizona, winning and covering their last 4 visits to Tucson, as well as covering 9 of the last 11 vs. the Wildcats. Moreover, OSU HC Mike Riley is 14-3 vs. the number his last 17 as a road dog, qualifying the Beavers as a featured College Coach as Underdog and Power Underdog recommendation this week.

STANFORD
It hasn’t been a bad idea lately to recommend against Southern Cal, which has dropped 16 of its last 22 spread decisions and looks to be in trouble for a Saturday night date at Stanford. The Cardinal has covered all three meetings vs. the Trojans since HC Jim Harbaugh arrived in 2007 and has also covered 5 of the last 6 in this series. Harbaugh has also covered 11 of his last 13 in Palo Alto.

RICE
Rice has owned UTEP in recent years, winning the last four and covering the last seven in this series. And the Miners are one of the most unreliable favorites in the country, evidenced by their recent subpar chalk marks (10-24 last 34 overall as favorite, 6-21 last 27 in role, and 3-11 last 14 laying points at the Sun Bowl).

HAWAII
Some pronounced series and team trends indicate Hawaii is worth a strong recommendation for its Saturday night date at Fresno State. This has been a big road series, with the visiting team winning the last four outright and covering the last five meetings. The Warriors have also become accomplished travelers for HC Greg McMackin, covering 8 of their last 12 on the mainland. Meanwhile, Pat Hill's Bulldogs are just 3-11 vs. the line their last 14 as Dog House chalk, as well as covering only 4 of their last 21 as host.

CKO

11* PENN STATE over Illinois

Battle of frosh QBs. But we’ll side with Penn State’s heady Robert Bolden, forced to grow up fast after stops at venues such as Tuscaloosa and Iowa City, where opponents’ victories these days are about as frequent as Chicago Cubs’ World Series titles. Meanwhile, this is he first game as a true visitor for Illinois’ Nathan Scheelhaase, who generated only a single TD last week vs. Ohio State despite two weeks of prep time. The 24-13 Buckeye final in that contest was greatly influenced by the quad injury suffered by OSU QB Terrelle Pryor (who was running in the clear at the time). CKO insiders have been impressed by the rapid development of Penn State’s younger players, who are starting to blend their power and speed nicely. The Nittany Lion defense has yielded only 96 ypg on the ground at home so far, and PSU’s new group of LBs improving every game.

10* N. CAROLINA STATE over Boston College

ACC scouts report that chemistry-rich, bona fide conference contender NCS has shaken off the disappointing, come- from-ahead 41-30 home loss vs. Virginia Tech, quickly re-focusing on its triple-revenge game vs. Boston College. So, must unhesitatingly lay the reasonable number vs. a troubled Eagle squad that “must go back to square one,” says dismayed HC Spaziano, after seeing promising frosh QB Rettig suffer an ankle injury in his 1st start vs. Notre Dame. Either demoted QB Shinskie or unpolished soph Marscovetra get no help from a laboring ground attack that mustered a minuscule 5 YR vs. an Irish defense that had no need to even stack the box with 7 or 8 defenders. Other end of spectrum is the explosive, nicely-balanced NCS attack (36 ppg & 449 ypg), smartly led by jr. QB Russell Wilson (14 TDs, 4 ints.), who has excellent rapport with rangy, fluid WRs Owen Spencer & Jarvis Williams (combined 37 catches). Eagles 0-4 vs. spread on ACC trail LY.

10* FLORIDA ST. over Miami-Fla

Both of these storied programs are on the way back to Top Ten status, but Florida State appears to more closely resemble a vintage Seminole squad of a decade ago. FSU’s smart sr. QB Christian Ponder operates behind an extremely experienced offensive line. Ponder hasn’t thrown an interception in the last three games, and Jr. RB Jermaine Thomas and soph Chris Thompson have combined for 6.9 ypc & 7 rush TDs. The underdog has covered 8 of the last 9 in this rivalry, and see this season as no exception. No knocks on Miami side that’s also progressing back to championship contender status. However, Hurricanes are a shade behind the Seminoles offensively, a situation exacerbated by finger, shoulder & elbow injuries endured by Miami QB Jacory Harris. Harris’ injuries haven’t prevented him from playing but are a contributing factor to his penchant for throwing interceptions (8 already). New FSU HC Jimbo Fisher gets his first big win for Seminole faithful.

10* SAN DIEGO STATE over BYU

This season is turning into a dream scenario of sorts for many Mountain West entries that have suffered countless defeats at the hands of BYU over the years and were hoping to give Cougs a proper parting gift before the Provo bunch 16 bolts the league and begins campaigning as an independent in 2011. And Brady Hoke’s emerging SDSU (4-0 vs. line) looks capable of unleashing years worth of frustrations vs. BYU now that RS frosh RB Ronnie Hillman (already 532 YR) inviting comparisons to Reggie Bush and giving the Aztecs their first top-flight infantry threat since the days of Marshall Faulk. Meanwhile, things have quickly gone pear-shaped at BYU (no wins or covers last 4), with its well-planned QB rotation up in smoke after Riley Nelson’s injury, and true frosh Jake Heaps struggling in his absence. Not sure Bronco Mendenhall throwing d.c. Jamie Hill under the bus after last week’s Utah State debacle is an answer for slow-footed Cougar stop unit that ranks dead last nationally (259 ypg) against the rush and has lost its top NT.

KANSAS ST. (+12) over Nebraska: The Wildcats' only wins in this series are under coach Bill Snyder. And don't you just know the Cornhuskers are looking ahead to next week's grudge match against Texas?

UConn (-5½) over RUTGERS: Rutgers starting QB Tom Savage (hand) is questionable at best. The team's confidence is doubtful at best.

SOUTH FLORIDA (-7½) over Syracuse: The Bulls are 5-0 in this series, having won every game by at least 14 points.

PENN ST. (-7½) over Illinois: Illinois gave it the old college try last week against Ohio State. Look for running back Evan Royster to have a big game as Penn State rebounds from a loss to Iowa.

OHIO ST. (-22) over Indiana: Indiana gave it the old college try last week against Michigan. Look for Terrelle Pryor to have a big game for the Buckeyes.

NC STATE (-10) over Boston College: Now starting at quarterback for the Eagles? Almost surely not Chase Rettig, who hurt his ankle in the loss to Notre Dame, and hopefully not Dave Shinskie. That leaves Mike Marscovetra, who couldn't beat out Rettig in the fall.

Michigan State (+4½) over MICHIGAN: Put aside the overflowing emotions of this in-state rivalry, which is ratcheted up by Mark Dantonio's heart attack and the fact that both teams are undefeated. Fact is the Wolverines can't stop a school bus with four flat tires.

SOUTH CAROLINA (+6½) over Alabama: No way the Tide can play with the same intensity it did against Florida. The Gamecocks are 2-2 in their last four vs. 'Bama.

CAL (-7½) over Ucla: The Bears have had two weeks to stew after a gut-wrenching 10-9 loss at Arizona. The Bruins are fat after their upset of Texas and win over Washington State.

NOTRE DAME (-6) over Pitt: No secret here: The Panthers are going to run it until the Irish can stop it. ND has played better competition.

Oregon St. (+7½) over ARIZONA: The Beavers, buoyed by the return of WR/KR James Rodgers, can hang in a high-scoring affair.

MIAMI (-6) over Florida St.: The 'Canes know they can beat the 'Noles. The 'Noles think they can beat the 'Canes. Hope Miami quarterback Jacory Harris doesn't think too much on his long balls.

STANFORD (-9½) over Usc: It's official: The USC dynasty is over. Stanford's defense is thrilled to be facing a conventional offense.

Arizona St. (+2½) over WASHINGTON: Two of the three Sun Devil losses have been by a total of four points. And the Huskies are complacent after upsetting USC.
